Nintendo Reveals The 25 Most-Downloaded Switch Games Of 2019 (Americas)
@Rodan2000 For what’s it’s worth, I bounced off Hollow Knight the first time I tried. The world was pretty, but moving around it was slow and boring, and combat was simplistic and easy. I dropped it after 5 hours or so.
A few months later I took another stab (it is critically acclaimed after all) with the mindset of not playing slow and methodically like I usually do, but just rushing. This time it stuck (and I stopped rushing). As you play, you get more movement powers, and combat becomes more difficult. What’s more important, as I began to see how wide, deep, and troubled Hollownest is, I really did feel immersed in the world, and now the whole thing is a part of me.
On the other hand, I broke my usual “rule”: if a game isn’t fun in the few hours, drop it. There are too many excellent games out there to waste time with ones that don’t start strong.
